Chocolate Cake

If you are a chocolate lover I can assure you, that you will truly enjoy this marvelous rich chocolate cake!

The texture of the moist cake balances perfectly with the thick layers of chocolate ganache. The presentation of this masterpiece is just as good as it tastes! The person who created this wonderful dessert used a basic chocolate cake mix and made two separate cakes. The two cakes have each been cut in half, length ways which now had divided them into four equal cakes. To create the icing, they have used two types of chocolate ganache; milk chocolate for in between the layers of cake and surrounding the outside of the entire cake; and dark chocolate that has been poured and drizzled over the top of the cake.

How To Present the Cake
To create the same look that the picture has, you need to have one of the four cakes as the bottom layer. Spread a thick amount of ganache evenly on top to cover the entire cake. Place the next layer on top and repeat the same step until you reach the last layer of cake. All that needs to be done now is to spread the entire cake (top and sides) with more ganache. Pour the dark chocolate ganache on top and drizzle some more for an extra effect.

Macaroons

Macaroons are pretty little baked confections that have become quite popular nowadays. These gorgeous little treats are great for tea parties, coffee with friends or when you just want to spoil yourself.

The name 'macaroon' actually comes from the Italian word maccarone meaning paste. But since it has been created, the original word has now been changed to macaroon by the English and macaron by the French This word is another concept from ammaccare which means crush or beat. Macaroons have suprisingly been around since the 9th century and have appeared in recipe books since as early as 1725.

Macaroons are a type of biscuit. It's main ingredients are egg white and almonds.
I have never personally tried macaroons but I have been told that they have a bland taste.

There are many different flavours of macaroons but the most popular are vanilla, raspberry, pistachio, lavendar and chocolate.

Overtime, macaroons have spread all around the world and can be seen selling  in several countries and restaurants.

Disney Cakes

Walt Disney, as everyone should know, was a very famous American film producer who made the lives of childhood very special. In 1928 Walt Disney Productions was founded and that's when it all began. Since than, many amazing movies have been produced.

So here are a few great cakes inspired by Walt Disney movies;

Toy Story Cake - Disney Pixar

This simple Toy Story cake is only two levels but still looks so good! The creator has used a buttermilk recipe and covered the cake with royal icing.

The bottom layer of cake resembles a cow because Woody (one of the main characters in the movie) is a cowboy. The top layer is the sky and clouds because cowboys are out in open ranges. The five characters made out of royal icing are in the movie "Toy Story". 'Woody' the cowboy is on top along with Bullseye, Woody's horse. On the ground level Slinky Dog, Mr. Potato Head and the green alien is featured.

Finding Nemo Cake

This extraordinary looking cake is one of the greatest I have ever seen! The detail in it is absolutely amazing! It one first prize in a local cake competition in Ontario and I see why! The cake have over 25 beautifully hand crafted fish on it and double the amount of coral!

The six layers of cake are all just a simple vanilla recipe and the icing used is royal icing. The creator of this cake would have spent several days, if not weeks to hand craft each fish to perfection. Food colouring has just been added to the royal icing to achieve the colour it is.

Disney Princess Cake

I personally love this Disney Princess Cake because it resembles each original Disney Princess! Each layer represents a different princess with the colour of their dress or something that relates to the Walt Disney book and movie.

Each layer is covered with coloured royal icing.

The crown on top represents the crown The Wicked Witch wore from the 1937 "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs".
The second layer resembles the green headpiece Jasmine wears in the movie "Aladdin".
The pink layer of cake is actually the top of Aurora's dress which is shown in "Sleeping Beauty".
The green on the fourth layer down represents the colour of Ariel's tail from the 1989 movie "The Little Mermaid" and the purple sea shells stand for the fact that she is a mermaid.
The blue layer of cake is the beautiful dress from "Cinderella".
Lastly, the layer of cake on the bottom is Belle's yellow puffy dress from the movie "Beauty and the Beast".

Pop Cakes

If you like cute things, than I can assure you that you will love these cute bit-sized pop cakes!

They are gorgeous little creations that have very recently become popular. Pop cakes are pretty much balls of cooked cake mix covered with chocolate and decorated usually with sprinkles. The mix is generally vanilla or chocolate flavour but banana and strawberry is gradually becoming more popular. Decorating these yummy treats is probably the most fun of all because there are so many ways you can do so. Pop cakes are firstly covered in melted chocolate or coloured icing and dipped into sprinkles, dried coconut or crushed nuts, most commonly pistachio. Another great way to decorate pop cakes is with royal icing (icing used on wedding cakes). With royal icing you are able to add more detail to the pop cakes to give them an even better finish.
Pop cakes can be presented on paper sticks/straws or in mini cupcake patties, either one looks great!

Some of the most popular pop cake designs are;

  • Chocolate dipped and covered in sprinkles, dried coconut or crushed nuts
  • Chocolate dipped and drizzled with chocolate
  • Coloured chocolate dipped
  • Animals eg. bees and sheep
  • Characters heads eg. Sesame Street and Angry Birds

Rainbow Layer Cake

This cake is a brilliant creation that I make so very often! The layers of different colours make it look extremely yummy to eat!

The cake is a simple vanilla mix that it easy to make and all you need to do to create the colours is add food colouring. The cake itself is reasonably easy to make but gets pretty hard when it comes to the cutting of layers. This is because you need to cut each layer of cake with a consistantly even width to get the best effect.

Using a different colour for every layer is really effective in my opinion because it grabs your attention even more than it would with just a normal layered cake! Personally I also think that the white icing brings out the colour of each layer too because having the icing such a plain shade makes the colours stand out so much more than it would if it was a similar colour to one of the ones used on the cakes.

This cake is also one of the most fun ways to bake a cake! This is because of the colours that are needed to make it look so effective. Choosing the colours are just as fun as making the cake its self because you are able to use whatever colours to make it look this great. What also looks good is when you use the same colour but in different shades which looks just as good as the rainbow one.

All round this cake is one you have to try because its fun to make as well as eat!

My Blog!

Hi, I'm Sheniqua and I love food! I'm a big fan of chocolate desserts like brownies, cupcakes and cakes. I love to bake as well as decorate the delicious sweets I have made. My blog is about yummy desserts that I personally love and I'm sure you will love to try once you've taken one look at them!

This blog is pretty much about mouth-watering desserts that look great and taste even better. All recipes on my blog  have amazing presentations and most have exquisite detail. And the best part of all is that they taste as great as they look!

I personally advise you to eat sweets in moderation and within a balanced diet.

Anyways, here's a little bit more about me...
I really enjoy to take photos and I like listening to music. I have a very big appetite and enjoy baking many things including recipes of this blog. I love to relax and I find that the beach is a very peaceful place to do so. I love to socialise and enjoy spending time with friends. Fitness is a big part of my life that I find essential when treating yourself with so many sweets. I love to travel and like to hope that when I am old enough I am privileged to travel the world. I also love Disney movies as well as Dr. Suess movies/books! I would also love to meet Zac Efron or Justin Bieber. My favourite actors/actresses are Steve Carell or Emma Stone.

I hope you all enjoy my blog!
